John Whelan, PhD lives and practices in Nova Scotia, Canada as a clinical psychologist. A married father of three grown children, he served for nearly nine years in the Canadain Navy before heading off to university. He has worked with serving and retired military, police, and other first responders who have been traumatized on the job for the past 20 years.
‘Going Crazy in the Green Machine’ is based on his clinical and research efforts to understand military trauma and develop more effective ways of offering help. His latest book – Ghost in the Ranks – centers on core aspects of military identity and how this very skillset can lay the ground for lingering mental struggles for veterans.
